Colorado near top of COVID-19 workers’ comp claims
Colorado is among states with the most COVID-19 workers’ compensation claims filed during the pandemic, with more than 300 COVID-19 claims per 100,000 active claims between January and June. This represents a 50 percent increase from 2019, according to the National Council on Compensation Insurance. Ex-employee files lawsuit against restaurateur
A former employee of a Greenville County, South Carolina restaurant has filed a sexual harassment and assault lawsuit against the restaurant and its owner in federal court. The suit claims the defendant told the woman he would file a workers’ compensation claim related to an injury and advised her not to seek medical attention until he told her to do so. Wisconsin task force meets to discuss misclassification
Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers’ Joint Enforcement Task Force on Payroll Fraud and Worker Misclassification last week met to discuss implementation of its 2020 recommendations and make plans for 2021. The Task Force released its first report earlier this year, which included several recommendations to better protect businesses and employees, including creating a coordinated inter-agency enforcement team and a contractor registration program.
