Tennessee woman with $500K in medical bills has workers’ comp hearing delayed

A Jefferson County, Tennessee woman who has been fighting her former employer, a regional propane gas supply company, for benefits as her medical bills have approached $500,000 will have to wait another six weeks before appearing before the state’s Workers’ Compensation Board. Dozens of wage theft investigations conducted in D.C. area

Authorities in the Washington, D.C., region have investigated more than 50 possible cases of wage theft since 2017, including a range of complaints from construction employees working from the nation’s capital through Richmond, Virginia. Gig companies take classification fight on the road

A coalition of app-based ride-hailing and on-demand delivery companies have filed a petition for a ballot initiative in Massachusetts that would keep employees classified as independent contractors as the industry. The coalition says the proposed ballot question would grant app-based ride-hail and delivery workers new benefits such as healthcare stipends while keeping them classified as independent contractors. Abilene employer gets $46K grant from Texas Mutual
