Colorado Premiums to Drop Next Year
Colorado Insurance Commissioner Marcy Morrison says that employers in the state will pay lower premiums for workers’ compensation insurance next year as the number of claims being filed by injured workers continues to decline. The drop is due to a 16 percent decline in loss costs.

PEI Farmer Recovers from Tractor Mishap
A Prince Edward Island farmer recovers in a Halifax hospital after his arm became caught in a sprayer attached to his tractor. “Amazingly enough, there happened to be someone traveling by who was actually an emergency responder, who saw the farmer laying in the field and trying to talk on his cellphone,” says George Stewart, the director of the occupational health and safety division of the Workers Compensation Board. Sarah Palin’s husband admitted that he was obsessed with his wife’s former brother-in-law, a state trooper, according to a 25-page sworn affidavit Todd Palin provided to an independent counsel investigating whether Gov. Palin fired her public safety commissioner because he allegedly refused to fire the trooper. Immediately after becoming Alaska’s governor, Palin, along with her husband and senior aides, conducted what amounted to a rogue investigation into suspicions that the trooper was faking a job-related injury, according to state documents, law enforcement officials and former aides.
