Union files charge against GE over vaccine policy

The IUE-CWA labor union has filed a charge with the National Labor Relations Board against General Electric Co. over the company’s handling of its Covid-19 vaccine mandate. One point of contention is whether newly vaccinated employees who cannot work because of vaccine side effects would need to take short-term disability leave or if they would receive workers’ compensation, according to an agent for the union. Employers in the cannabis industry have questions about the federal vaccine mandate, many of which may be answered about Fed-OSHA’s forthcoming rule. Specifically, they want to know how they should calculate their total number of employees to determine if they have 100 or more, and who will pay for the weekly testing for unvaccinated employees. Michigan chambers, industry leaders oppose federal vaccine mandate

The Grand Rapids Chamber has joined with many others across the state of Michigan, as well as industry groups, urging the Biden administration to reconsider his vaccine mandate. The CEO of Associated Builders and Contractors of Michigan says people who do federal contracting work are already leaving the workforce, and that opposition to the federal mandate is a bipartisan issue. Iowa state trooper dies from work-related injuries

An eastern Iowa State Trooper has died after being injured on the job last week in a vehicle accident. KHAK
