Virginia workers’ comp bill leaves out large groups

Public safety employees who suffer from severe, job-related cases of COVID-19 are being denied workers’ compensation, but a bill that passed with unanimous support in the Virginia Senate on Thursday would allow law enforcement, corrections officers, firemen and EMS providers to collect these benefits. Bill seeks to protect miners from COVID-19 exposure

A bill sponsored by U.S. Rep. Matt Cartwright (D-PA) would require the U.S. Department of Labor to issue mine operators an emergency temporary standard related to occupational COVID-19 exposure.
