A proposal to prohibit firing employees for trace amounts of cannabis in their systems moved closer to passage when the Illinois House of Representatives approved the measure earlier this month, but some employers argue fear the change will only lead to more fights in court over who qualifies and how the law is applied. The measure underwent two amendments that helped get the Illinois Sheriffs’ Association and Illinois Manufacturers’ Association to drop their opposition. Republican lawmakers sue CDC over commercial travel mask mandate
A group of 17 Republican lawmakers has sued the Centers for Disease Control and its director, claiming its commercial travel mask mandate causes them financial harm because they must purchase a mask every time they use commercial airlines. The members of Congress seek an order to set aside the “transportation hub” mask mandate, which the CDC issued on January 29, 2021, and requires individuals who use certain forms of transportation to wear masks. Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation puts $50 million in multifamily fund
The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation has committed $50 million to Sares Regis Multifamily Value-Add Fund IV for the $20.4 billion State Insurance Fund. The bureau’s board of directors approved the commitment to the value-added real estate fund at its February 25 meeting. Pension & Investments
