Wyoming Senate amends first-responder mental injury proposal

The Wyoming Senate last week passed a proposal that would allow firefighters, law enforcement personnel, search and rescue personnel and ambulance personnel to receive workers’ compensation for mental injuries. The proposal also would also allow them to receive workers’ comp for mental injuries that accompany physical injuries they sustain, for up to six months after a physical injury has healed to the point that it is not reasonably expected to substantially improve. Social Security Administration ‘mistakes’ force retirees to refund overpayments

A November 2019 audit by the Office of the Inspector General found the Social Security Administration estimated it had made $8 billion in improper payments in 2018 alone, and also identified mistakes in calculating income of beneficiaries. The SSA has been demanding repayment from people who were unknowingly overpaid. WCPO
