Miami Beach policeman’s workers comp claim denied despite 11-week hospitalization
A Miami Beach policeman who spent 11 weeks in the hospital battling COVID-19 last year, at at times intubated and on a ventilator, says he may lose his workers’ compensation for the time he spent hospitalized for what he says was a job-related illness. The officer’s attorney says he should be entitled to those lost wages and full medical care under the workers compensation law. Local10

Military personnel are at risk for heat illness, especially during outdoor training exercises that involve rigorous physical exertion. Of the 43 Army installations tracked for the 2020 Health of the Force report, 10 experienced more than 100 heat risk days in 2019, mostly concentrated in the south and southeast U.S. Nearly 40 percent of active-duty soldiers were stationed at one of these locations. 31K COVID complaints since March 2020 reported to Oregon agency
Oregon OSHA said Wednesday it received 31,635 COVID-related complaints since March 2020, up from the typical 2,000 complaints filed in a normal year. The agency’s public information officer says two-thirds of the citations issued for COVID violations were never appealed by the employer. Central Oregon Daily
