New Jersey justices uphold workers’ comp order directing reimbursement for medical cannabis

Ohio jury awards workers’ comp to automotive plant employee
An employee of Honda’s Anna Engine Plant is entitled to workers’ compensation, a Shelby County, Ohio jury has decided. The production associate was diagnosed with bilateral carpal tunnel syndrome in July 2019 but was denied workers’ comp. The employer agreed the employee’s work provoked carpal tunnel symptoms but argued the emergence of symptoms doesn’t mean her job caused the condition. Sidney Daily News
Fireman’s death prompts bill in New York State Legislature
New York lawmakers have introduced a bill to add vascular rupture to the list of injuries covered under the Volunteer Firefighters’ Benefit Law in honor of a Whitehall fireman who died in September after suffering a line-of-duty injury last May. However, the workers’ compensation claim was denied by the county’s insurer because the company claimed it was a pre-existing condition. Post-Star (Glens Falls, N.Y.)
