Kentucky high court upholds limits on workers’ compensation

A Kentucky law passed to prevent duplicative benefits and reduce payments from the commonwealth’s workers’ compensation fund is constitutional, the Kentucky Supreme Court ruled Thursday. The law limits payment of disability benefits under Kentucky’s workers’ compensation program to the time when a recipient reaches the age of 70. Courthouse News Service

 

Feds: Chiropractor settles workers’ comp fraud allegations

A Levittown, New York chiropractor has paid more than $290,000 to the federal government to settle civil allegations of workers’ compensation fraud, federal prosecutors said Wednesday. Prosecutors allege the defendant falsely claimed to have examined a patient and then billed workers’ comp for the non-existent office visits. He was not charged criminally. Ohio BWC issues $189M redemptions from open-ended property funds

The Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation has approved $189.8 million worth of redemptions from core and core-plus open-ended funds, according to a meeting document. The BWC started its real estate fund redemption plan this year as part of a plan to redeem up to $875 million to be used as part of payments being made to employees adversely impacted by the pandemic.
