State Roundup: West Virginia Kills Sick Leave Cap for W/C Carrier

The West Virginia legislature has opted to kill a bill sponsored by Governor Manchin that would have capped cash payments for accrued sick leave for outgoing employees at $25,000. Out of the 500 employees transferring to private Brickstreet Mutual Insurance, most had opted to cash out their accrued sick leave under legislation that privatizes the state's workers' comp carrier.
